#9260: ..

by Dean Avanti on 10/11/2007 04:45

so is there any way to import a model format, and turn it into a map, does it have any import functions that support the import of a model format, any model type, that this can then be turned into a map

If you use Sauerbraten, your maps have to be in Sauerbraten's format. You can only really use models for small little details.

Sauerbraten is about a DIFFERENT way of making maps, a way that is just incompatible with external modelers.

Quin sort of scooted SauerMod into BloodFrontier...

Yes, you can import models to use inside of the map, but not for whole sections. Basically, anything you import is going to have a collision box and nothing more complicated than that.

That being said though - give it a couple of weeks of practice, and you'll be able to put maps together far, far quicker than you ever will with anything else.

#9263: Sauerbraten does not start in Win32.

by gnulle on 10/11/2007 11:44

Folks,

having installed Suarebraten Summeredition 29.08.07 in in WinXP Media Center Edition, I get the following screen when starting the game.:
---------------------------------------
init: sdl
Sauerbraten Win32 Exception: 0xc0000005 [0x0]

SDL_main - main.cpp [504]
__tmainCRTStartup - crtexe.c [586]
---------------------------------------
It seems that there are SDL-libraries missing. How can I correct that under Windows?

BTW: Graphics Card is nvidia 8800GTX
Thanks Thomas

You'll have to check your NAT's firewall settings and forward the appropriate ports, most likely.

i think mentioning a firewall in this sentence is quite confusing since most users are just behind a router/NAT box and have the very same problem...

You'd think they never ever googled port forwarding/pinholing.

Most of us don't use alcatel routers so it should be easy enough to do it via your router's web interface.

to get to the web interface you just need to type in your IP (not network), or the router's network IP. To my knowledge, windows (I'm just assuming your running windows. uses DHCP so it should already be hiding the IP addresses you need to access the web configuration screen.

Linux users on the other hand can just use apt-get/emerge/yast2 to install telnet, and use that to configure the nat (remember to do a 'nat save' afterwards)

When you do that remember, server ports are currently fixed at UDP 28785 and UDP 28786

That should cover it

I think that the most common router address is 192.168.1.1

Just type that in in your browser's address bar, and if it asks you for a password, you in luck. Just enter that in and you can forward ports.

Would it be possible for the script to have some sort of if/then statement the tests to see what weapon you have, and then only continues if you are using a certain weapon?

There are no variables or functions yet to determine what kind of weapon you have. It shouldn't be that hard to make, though, if you know a little c++.
