I have changed the behaviour of the forum after posting a message so that it reloads the thread you posted to rather than taking you back to the thread list.

I had the same problem but then I changed the bit depth and resolution under windows (to lower settings, 16 bit colors and 800x600) and then got 40 FPS :)

Hey aard, i have yet to test these new versions for linux, but I'm glad to see that you've gotten Cube off the ground quickly and successfully. Continued good luck!
Cheers,

I tried out this engine quickly tonight, and am very impressed.
This looks a lot better than many commercial products, and I think it has great potential.
The visuals are excellent. :)

#99: Running .cfg files |

I want to execute a separate .cfg file on start-up. I tried putting the command in autoexec, but the game crashes before it even starts.
Is there a way of doing this?

just write: " exec name.cfg "
at the end in the autoexec.cfg
(if it still crashes, tell me what exactly do u want to do with the .cfg /execute)
btw, this is the #100 posting :)

Yes, that is what I did, and it does cause the engine to crash (can't remember the error message!)
It's not a big deal, as I have worked around it, I just wanted to know if the engine should have crashed or not.
I was just using it to kick off an 'alias' config, as mentioned in one of the other threads, until aliasing is built-in :)

#102: most wanted 'feature' |

Here's what I've noticed, there never seems to be anyone on the servers. As a result I don't hang around the servers for very long at any given time, and I think this is just a viscous circle of no damn fun. I think it would be cool if we scheduled some times or something so that everyone would know a good time to find people online. I've only played once with more than 4 people, but that was an absolute blast.

full ack. Twice I persuaded friends of mine to install Cube and play online, all servers were empty though.
Setting up a "Scheduled Games" thread might be the best way for now. Kohan online matches were often scheduled through Loki's ng.
Another suggestion:
Would it be possible to set up a new page for user-written maps? I mean, including thumb/screenshot, author's comments, and a rating system perhaps? Personally, I suck big time at PHP, but the authors of this site apparently don't so it might be possible.

To cut this short, html is disabled, so is all other kind of scripting. Complete URLs are turned into html links, but you mustn't omit the protocol. Example:

#110: linux cube binary |

by inertia_

The linux client binary of cube, when run, is very vague about what error causes it to not start -- I believe, that in my case, I lack some of the sdl libraries, but the cube executable does not reveal this. It would be good if the error messages were more precise, especially during startup.

I don't know about the rest of you, but i think fov 120 is a little bit low... I prefer something more like fov 145. What do the rest of you think? (And yes Aard, I know you favor fov 120 =])

The error messages regarding libraries are completely out of Cube's control. If you were missing a library, the linker will state it as such. If a symbol is missing, then you need a newer version of the library. Regardless, it's the linker that tells you when there is a problem, not Cube (as it can't). :)
