"If I just use plain html, everyone will say it has no style. It's just plain."
OK, now I'm insulted. Please don't email me. (and btw, I was able to completely duplicate your page with handwritten html, css, and javascript. nothing serverside, nothing fancy, but a lot more efficient, and easy to make it better looking.)

Plain HTML is one of the things I value most, because, when it accomplishes the purpose at hand -- to provide a single page from which I can download say, a set of sauerbraten levels -- it is the fastest and best way to do it.
Your website is just fluff right now. You have far too many "community" features and no community to use them. You can't build a community with the levels you have or your web design skills, so why bother?
Best advice I can give: Learn basic HTML. Make a page with some text, one table, and no formatting. Provide direct download links on the main page (You have no other real pages anyway, so don't bother making more), along with direct links to a screenshot or two, list the version it's meant to be used with and the name of the map with a description. That's if you think you absolutely need to share those "maps" with the community. I could make those in less than half an hour apiece.
Take some time on your maps. Create something small and texture it properly. Look around the real world and try to emulate some things that you see.

If you didn't use plain HTML, then what *did* you use? A WYSIWTF editor like FrontPage? Meh...

I made a test page to see if what it looks like is what you are all talking about. I think this is more plain than the other pages.http://e.macsrule.googlepages.com/test2

Personally, I think you're going for one demographic there with a website subdomain like macsrule ;)

No.
Look at the HTML of http://drakas.woop.us/stuff/
That's how it should look at least ;)
Or... when talking about plain, what you really need to consider is something like this:
http://cub.edu.ms/
If you start from the basic basics you'll make it to more complex and advanced projects.
I mean... this is just raw and plain HTML. After all, it is the content that matters (at least for the start) :)
Learn how to use Description Lists to list stuff like maps and so on. Will help.

Plain means no styling :)
You have "SuaerWeb", by the way (the title of the page) :P

Heh, good you put that "at least" in there, otherwise I'd be forced to yell at you for not using XHTML...

My website started out pretty plain. just a title page and the levels pages. Now, it has a lot more features and looks better. I know it is the content that matters, but how come Quadropollis has different colors and a lot of features? This is what I never quite understood.

Hey Guys! I just downloaded the latest version of Sauerbraten (2007_8_19), and installed it on Windows Vista Home Basic. Unfortunately when I tried to start it, I always get an error while creating the acticvation context, saying the manifest file in the bin/ directory conflicts with another already active manifest file in windows. Do you have any idea how to deal with this?
Thank you!
Dimo

I have no idea about your Vista-Problems, but there already is a newer version, the one from 2007_8_27. ;-)
