#7548: Re: Multiplayer against monsters

by Pxtl on 02/22/2007 15:13, refers to #7544

Nope. There is no netcode for monsters, so there is no multiplayer vs. monster mode.

#7549: Weird Texture Bug

by Tybalt on 02/22/2007 21:11

Im working on a car mapmodel. I have a weird bug when i use it in sauerbraten : it seems that the texture is paint on the wrong face of the model ...

http://img238.imageshack.us/my.php?image=captureoj6.png

I use latest blender with the latest md3 exporter :

Well first off it looks like some normals are simply facing the wrong way.
Try "recalculate normals outside" on the model. If that doesn´t work, it´s probably your exporter version, and you should try this one:

http://johnny3d.promail.ca/blendermd3.zip

BTW, other wiki editors: Why is the above link along with the "Suggested Modelling Tools" section removed from the wiki ? It held important answers to frequently re-occurring questions, wich now some people have to answer again all the time, instead of just posting the appropriate link :S :S I mean cmon there was a reason I wrote it, and then someone just deletes it :/ makes me so wanna write more....

Makke, have a look who edited those pages recently... there better be a good explanation (has it moved somewhere else?)

There's a menu option on the wiki that allows you to make backups (html or otherwise) of the entire wiki. I do that once in a while to be sure... others should do so too, that we can easily recover should any of the editors "go bad" :)

Has been moved - now all modeling info is weirdly cluttered. (along with other info).

It´s been moved to "Editing Methods" (wich is all about mapping) , while the md3-howto (important bit!) was still on the main "Mapping and Editing" page under "editing related links". Oo

I have made A new paragraph for Modeling only on the "Mapping and Editing" Page, I find that more convenient than having sauer-specific model-info cluttered around inbetween mapping stuff.

In fact it comes from the model being "materialised" and not textured, i can see the same texture bug in blender if i choose the texture view, on the other hand with the solid view the model is right ... :S
I guess i will put the possibility of reading md3 materials as a most wanted feature ;).
Thanks anyway.

Since I never really worked with md3 in q3 or else, I don´t really know what you are talking about, anyways, the .skin file and .qc and animation.cfg are essentially combined in the md3.cfg (with diffrent syntax) did you check out
/sauerbraten/docs/dev/md3_sauer_howto.txt ?

#7556: Does Cube work on eMachines??

by Mike Dolan on 02/24/2007 23:59

I'm using a borrowed eMachines ETower 500IX, with Windows XP, and I want to run Cube.

But the version I installed, which I downloaded in June 05, won't work. The music plays, the screen appears, but nothing moves and none of the controls respond.

Should I try for a new download? Are there any reconfigurations I can make?

Please respond.

We need more system info - such as graphics card and so on...

Quick spot of googling gives some hw specs:

http://www.dealtime.com/xPF-E-Machines-etower-500ix-500IX

Looks pretty old, and i suspect integrated graphics. If that is the case then there's a small chance of getting cube running well. Also, this machine was designed for windows 98.

Cube1 will run if he gets the drivers up to date...I've ran cube1 on less than that when cube1 was new. All you need is GL support, and 8mb's of video ram.

OOPS, you only have 4mb's of video ram, unless a video card has been added to that machine...not sure if that'll run cube1.

#7561: Sauerbraten Editing Help

by Unanimated on 02/25/2007 20:07

For some odd reason, when I edit in Sauerbraten and I type in a command such as "jumppad" or "teleport," it says "Unknown command: jumppad" or "Unknown command: teleport." Why is it doing this? I look at other jumppads and teleporters in the map and the commands are the spelled the same exact way that I'm spelling them. Can someone tell me what the problem is?

#7562: entities

by rock.n.rol_w/o_cookie on 02/25/2007 20:10

Try

/newent teledest

and

/newent jumppad

and read this:

You are missing that the jumppads and teleports you see are entities. That is not neccesairily making "teleport" or "jumppad" a valid command to insert such an entity. Try :

newent type value1 value2 value3 value4

Hint: Type may be teleport, jumppad, light , etc etc...

see /sauerbraten/readme.html so you won´t have to guess syntaxes...

#7565: Modding

by ENForceR on 02/26/2007 11:21

Hello Guys.

I have been trying to mod some of the things in Cube 2 as a bit of entertainment. I love the Game for its creativeness and also am thinking of creating a Epic Level once I get a Beefy computer. as far as the moding goes however, I do not know scripting and all that so that dose not really help me that much, but I am good at making textures, and have been working on some mods for the Ogro character.

some Monsters I want to replace with ones in my head and differently skinned Ogros.

I ask however, what is the Program used to create the Models (monsters, props, etc) in Cube 2, and where they can be downloaded.

Thank you for any help you can offer me.
