#7468: Sauerbraten hangs |
|
by saper

|
Just downloaded sauerbraten_2006_12_04_gui_edition_linux.tar.gz and installed it. Sometime, while in game, sauer stalls (i.e. no mouse move), only Alt+SysRq+S/U/B helps me. It stalls in 2-10 minutes, often when i jump or fire rocket/ball in game.
Bug is not present in some very old sauer release, i used before (was completely unplayable, because of low fps). 2006_12_04 has great fps on my PC :-)
Sysinfo:
- standard Linux Slackware 11.0;
- Matrox G450 32Mb DDR (get this bug with drivers: latest matrox cvs, lastest from matrox site and xorg standard).
I also must note that cube/pcube works fine as other 3D games (NWN, BZFlag). I tried recompiled by myself version of Sauer (properly installed with binaries move and rename), but it not helps :-(
I experienced with C/C++, so can build necessary debug version, or even make little debug on my PC.

Your video card is surely the cause of this, but I'm not sure what to tell you to try, other than start disabling rendering features. I know that card won't be running the shaders. What kind of messages are in the console when you first start sauerbraten? Hit the F11 key to "pull down" the console to see the start up messages.

I\'ve been playing cube and sauerbraten at school for a long time with my friends, just forgot how to set it to window mode. I know it is in the file with the -w**** -h*** and I know there is something else that goes before it but just can\'t remember what.

init: gl

Driver: 1.2 Mesa 6.5.2
WARNING: No vertex_buffer_object extension! (geometry heavy maps will be SLOW)

I updated my software, so now it\'s:
- libdrm 2.3.0;
- Mesa 6.5.2 (Lib(GL/GLw)+glut);
- Xorg 7.1.0;
- mga_drv 1.4.6.1 (it has bug in DRI, i know, with same symptoms, but since 1.4.4 it was fixed).
Bug (or situation) still present in new configuration. I also can note that right before sauer with X-Server hangs i see gap between textures (or surfaces).

#7476: Why Sauerbraten opens without shader support? |

Hi, i can play Sauerbraten normally, but i want good graphics: why the shader support isn't supported?
I write the message:
"Renderer: RADEON 9200 Series DDR x86/SSE2 (ATI Technologies Inc.)
Driver: 1.3.1072 WinXP Release
WARNING: ATI cards may show garbage in skybox. (use "/ati_skybox_bug 1" to fix)
WARNING: Using floating point vertexes. (use "/floatvtx 0" to disable)
WARNING: No shader support! Using fixed function fallback. (no fancy visuals for
you)
WARNING: Non-power-of-two textures not supported!"
Exists a mode to fix this problem? Thanks!

well, *maybe* because your graphics card does not support shaders?

because my video card is new, it says \\\\\\\"Network Server Error\\\\\\\" after about 1 minute in a multiplayer game and it disconnects me.
also, it says this on the forums now.
\\\"A user with the username \\\'xgmx\\\' exists already! Please choose another username.\\\"
and this
\\\"A user with the email strikesback7@yahoo.com exists already! Please choose another username.\\\"
My first 2 posts worked with my name but now i have to add a number or something at the end of each time i make my name and i have to use another of my emails.
i mean how is this, this forum doesnt even have registering, so how is that possible.

The video card won't have anything to do with internet or network errors. And, the 9200 is a old card, you'd need a 9600 or higher to have shaders.
1+1= (I DONT KNOW)
