Sauerbraten isn't as much about supporting low-grade machines/interwebs-connections as Cube was - maybe your office pals could consider all settling for Cube. It's just as much fun if you just want a quick match of intense DM ;-)
It'll stand a better chance to run on such machines!
Those parameters I asked you to try _are_ the options to downscale the graphical FX ... try RTFM yourself too?!?
I'm still wondering if you didn't somehow install a bogus package ... have you tried installing a freshly downloaded release from sourceforge into a completely new directory?
Is this problem occuring on any other machine @ your office? Are they all the same?
Have you checked stdout.txt/stderr.txt located inside the sauerbraten-folder?

you simply have a crashing intel driver that was never meant to properly run opengl. If you get no anwers, its because we don't have any. I have NO idea what you need the search feature for, for most of us this is the most usable forum ever.

Well, you can simply take the Sauerbraten game, create a new project on sf.net and put all the Sauerbraten source's files there. Then, you can start editing it all in the CVS. All you need to do then is to distribute the source and the binaries to the users, which they'll put to, say bin_linux or bin directories and then can, say, run ./bin_linux/fork and use all the same maps and textures without breaking any licenses :)

The SDL-1.2.11-win32.zip is not installable. It just contains the files SDL.dll and README-SDL.txt.
So I could just copy the SDL.dll file over the existing one.
Usually this could result in compatibility problems. But it didn''t start the SDL anyway. Same effect on the Linux system.
So what is the reason?

the password enables you to grab master _although_ someone already got it the "public way" sauerbraten works.
It's intentional for servers to allow any player to become master, so gamers can use any public server to start their _private_ games (where even the server admin'd be blocked while the game continues (barring he kills the server under their feet)).
You can always just not register the server on the masterserver (-mlocalhost) ... then only people you inform of hostname and/or IP can connect - this way you can avoid people using your server ... if that's what you want.
If you want to disable the mastermode features you should branch off your own MOD; modified servers are not supposed to register on the official masterserver - BTW ;-)

except... 32 player servers are supposed to be only for public game play. That's the deal. I think that servers with around up to 12 people should be left to the public to control while 32 player servers should be controlled by a moderator, because the game is totally open.

Yes but its rather annoying for those that donate their bandwidth for people to play just to find that two people have set your server to private so they can make a map. Some server admins would PREFER to have their server open at all times. I personally get extremely annoyed and shut down my server if people have set it to private to have a clan war or a small coopedit session.
Wouldn't it be easier to have servers dedicated for coopedit and then just general servers for playing?

I understand your point of view,
but if less people thought like that you'd have so many servers that you'd never notice a particular one being "hogged".
With so little publicly donated bandwidth as the available servers represent it seems even more necessary for all of them to be hoggable ... on the other hand clan-wars shouldn't be held on public servers IMHO - for avoiding useless "P" server connecting newbies if nothing else.

I totally agree with Passa here. Say, I host a small (7) player server from my ADSL line here. I don't relaly mind anyone taking coop sessions or a small clan war - it's only a small server! But yet I have a 32 player, in which, already I disabled coopedit and mm2 & mm3!:)

Hi,
I downloaded SAUERBRATEN today, from www.extreme-players.de, its the GUI Edition (sauerbraten_2006_12_04_gui_edition_win32_setup) and when I start a Server, well I try to, it writes [OLDER PROTOCOL] next to my Server in the Serverlist. Is this not the latest Version ?
Can someone please help me.
Thx
WarBirD

For command line, -w<width> -h<height>.
IN Sauer, you can do /screenres <width> <height>
