You don't have SDL_image installed, contrary to what you may believe.

With full health and full armor. Can someone take 9 direct hits with a rocket launcher and about 35 round with the machine gun without dying?

well, only if the map contains at least 5 health boosts ;)
but really, seems like cheat !
It is really easy to modify the sourcecode in order to cheat!!!

Has there been any talk about cell shading for Sauer? Could it be used for weapons or levels, perhaps in conjunction with the new Normalmap textures?

It's not the map. It's the shader system. Right now, the shaders are written in shader-plaform-specific-assembler. He's porting them to platform-agnostic shader language. First step is getting the language into the engine, then porting the shaders themselves.
This picture is "see, the language is into the engine now!". Next he has to actually port all the shaders.

Well, except that the assembly is platform agnostic too, and the assembly shaders are smaller and easier to deal with...

Everywhere I look I see that Sauerbraten and cube are open source engine games, and that development beyond just maps is possible. I was curious. Are the engine's opensource or is it closed now?
I can't seem to find the engine source... anywhere?
++ yes i have read the zlib license. ++
Help. Thanks.

So what you have succeeded in doing is creating a screenshot that looks like someone is on LSD. Nice work. Have CVS access.

I was wondering if the cube engine and the sauerbraten engine are separate identities.
I am fairly sure they are, but I'm just asking.
I know the cube engine is open source...
Is the Sauerbraten engine open source?

You can simply open the text file in the "src" folder inside the "sauerbraten" folder called readme_source.txt. And yes, it's in all the versions.
But if you couldn't figure that out, I'm not sure how you're going to do any programming. Maybe it's just a case of things hiding in plain sight, though. Good luck.
