There is no controversy. Praxibetel is just stirring up a tempest in a teapot with juvenile antics. Really, nobody cares.

"ignore passas post and look at this screenshot (which is how it actually appears ingame... passa set it to fullbright the biased biatch)"
"lol passa acctually took that screenshot with fullbright ON. rofl. that shows how much of what he is saying is BS and also reflects the community in general. you 0wned urself passa."
Yes. It uses about 1 texture. I set it to fullbright to highlight that.
"it is NOT easy AT ALL to convert a full on mod like edm into an add-on. Anyone who knows what they are talking about should know that."
lol. solution to this imaginary problem? steal sauer's content! look, I'm sure if wasda can code some of the 'advanced' features in EDM, he can restructure EDM so it fits into a standard Sauerbraten installation? Hey, then he'd have heaps of content to work with!
http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/4494/untitledta9.jpg
Ok, I've put a screenshot of trialpitshit in without fullbright, and a fullbright and non fullbright version of that twin towers one too. Why didnt I show that map before or mention it? I thought it was shitter than trialpit so I just left it out :) Also some comparisons to sauer, in response to prax's funny comment of:
"i would struggle to find anything better than that in sauerbraten. once again stfu with your biased, unfair bulshit."
Anyway, I don't blame the mappers for such shit maps, I mean come on, imagine how difficult it is to work with three textures that were stolen from Sauerbraten?

Sorry eihrul, didn't see your post.
*sighs at noticing that praxtibetel bothered to report Sauerbraten to SF*
Its a kid VS a team of game-developing adults who all have jobs at places where you make games and no doubt learn about copyrights? :)
/me imagines the consequences of reporting EDM to SF :P

I can't believe all this sh@t is coming up again. Some people from both sides of the fence are sounding fanatic (sounds like a damn jihad) all over again...over what..a game?
If "modders" are doing something "wrong", just ignore it. If no one plays/likes their stuff it will die anyway. If someone "steals" something (textures, models, etc...) it will bite them in the ass when they try to produce original material for "the real world". Every dog has his day.
Everyone, quit beating this dead horse and move on.
Sauerbraten needs more models, maps, textures, talented people. Go make something and quit the bitch session. Be productive and improve your skills, only the best contributions will survive and the rest will be forgotten.
The old guy has spoken.
MitaMAN

Prax, just ignore that mail.
Noone has my support of hacking anyone.
And I doubt anyone elseīs too.
In the unlikely even anyone here would decide to hack you, they wouldnīt send such a cheap mail prior to doing so, so it was prolly just a troll taking an opportunity. Any of the core people here also have far better things to do than spending time to hack people.
Dynamo/Dyno: Your comments were extremely useless, if you want to make a fuzz, go somewhere else please.

This is retarded.
A: it's not cool to hack people's shit.
B: whoever sent that email CERTAINLY doesn't have the approval of anyone with half a brain (and I HIGHLY doubt it was Passa).
C: people are entitled to their own opinions (this is for EVERYBODY, I'm not trying to take sides)
D: Amen to MitaMAN, this is all bullshit. Let's get back to what's important: making a kick ass game. Agreed?

Do you have a crayon stuck in your brain?
We have developers, you aren't going to upload ANYTHING to CVS without aard's approval, and you aren't in ANY position to be making demands about what will and will not go into sauer.

This forum looks like fun, although half of what you say is incomprehensible :) Would anyone be kind enough help me with installing new mapmodels into Saurbraten? I've searched the Wiki and the help files with no success. Am I missing something obvious? Most likely :)

These were md2 files with no cfg file, but they worked anyway. I think my main problem was that I couldn\'t find the models in the editing menu. Anyhow, after you showed me how to fiddle the default_map_settings.cfg file, I felt brave enough to muck around with the menus.cfg, and voila! Now my new models are in the editing/models list where even a non-programming dummy like myself could find them. TYVM Brian, for your time and for steering me in the right direction. :)

Bryan See: the default cfg is called default for a reason : itīs the default.
Adding new mapmodels should be done in the specific mapīs cfg. Default cfg shouldnīt be changed AT ALL.
It doesnīt need to be md3, md2 works too, and a .cfg file isnīt neccesairy too.
Get to know how it works before you tell people how to do it please.
Manowar:
Check /docs/dev
(thereīs files concerning md2 and md3)
