... that's for a box model at MD2 format, modelized under Blender.

How fix that glitch ?

#6269: MBP touchpad scrolling only moves cubes in one direction

by DerNalia on 08/21/2006 19:07

I was wondering how i would fix the scrolling in the editor. When i hook up my mouse, the moving and sizing of blocks works fine, but when i use the trackpad, the cubes will only be pulled toward me.

Max: It looks like some of the faces are facing the wrong direction.
Try to check that.

Are you using blender only to export?
You know, you will need q2modeller to get a working md2 from blender (blenderīs script is broken).

Or use this:

http://www.planetgargoyle.com/openarena/tools/blendermd3.zip

and use md3.

Toramoth >> Yeah, you'd think that one would be laid out more simply ;)

Fact is, doors ONLY work in Single Player mode at this time.

When you added the door entity, did you do so using the Triggers menu? If yes, your door should work, if you load the game in single-player mode (it defaults to multiplayer if you just load it).

Hope that helps.

#6272: 3RD Person Shooter Game!?

by Truth on 08/23/2006 08:19

Hi everyone, im new here as u can tell. . .i just tested this new Cube 2 engine and wow its awesome. . more so becuase of its ability to handle a 3RD Persoan Perspective very well unlike some other FPS engines, anyway i alwasy wanted to design a 3RD Person Shooter, from what ive seen in the RPG Maps this is very much possible. . .but the question is how? where do i begin building? and how do turn the 3RD Person Perspective on as the default camera for gameplay like in the RPG maps?

Thx =)

If you don't even know how to turn on third person view (thirdperson 1 in the console by the way) I suggest you don't bother trying to make your own game at all.

Try this, suits you better probably:

#6274: texture_env_combine Error in Vista

by Crusty on 08/23/2006 14:59

When trying to load Cube 2 in Windows Vista i get a "No texture_env_combine extension" error which tells me that my video card is way too old (which it isn't). When running the game in XP (on the same computer) it works fine and so does Cube (which runs incredibly slowly on Vista).
I have an ATI Radeon X300 Series graphics card using the latest ATI drivers.
The only difference between running the game on XP and Vista (apart from the Operating system) is that they use slightly different ATI drivers and XP uses DirectX 9 whereas Vista uses 10.

What could be wrong and how can I make it work in Vista?

by Toramoth on 08/23/2006 15:41

thanks for the door thing, i figgured out the probblem (i was inserting it as an "animation loop" instead of "auto close") i might not put the map on the web though since im new and the map is kinda square...

Don't use illegally gotten BETAs and you won't have a problem.

Vista isnt ready for any sort of gaming use yet, from the sounds of it, DirectX 10 must be forcing your old card into software mode. Just use Windows XP.

Vista isn't out yet - it's a Beta release (Beta 2) - www.microsoft.com/windowsvista

The Beta isn't illegal: I got it from Microsoft as part of their Community Tech Preview thing

Nothing to do with DirectX 10 (I think)
I realised that it was trying to use a different graphics renderer (Microsoft's GDI Generic instead of an ATI one) so the problem appears to be with the Vista ATI Drivers not supporting OpenGL (it says the OpenGL version is 'not availiable')

From Transgaming.com:
"At the same time as the implications of DirectX 10 are being considered, many people in the graphics development community are up in arms over Microsoft's announcement that in Windows Vista, OpenGL will be implemented on top of the DirectX 9 APIs. There are some good technical reasons for Microsoft to take this approach, given that the Windows Vista next generation Avalon GUI will be based entirely on DirectX. It's rather amusing for us at TransGaming, though, as we spend quite a bit of effort doing the exact opposite: implementing the DirectX APIs on top of OpenGL for non-Windows platforms."

Maybe it has something to do with this?
Don't know really, I just remembered this. But I think OGL should work in some way.

Yeah, I've been researching it a bit on the internet and i seem to have found similar things - Both the ATI and Windows drivers have no OpenGL at all at the moment so it is defaulting to the GDI Generic driver which is rubbish.
I guess I'll just have to wait for ATI to bring out another Vista driver at some point in the future with OpenGL.

"The Beta isn't illegal: I got it from Microsoft as part of their Community Tech Preview thing"

Pfft, thats what they all say, and considering you call it the "Community Tech Preview thing" means I doubt you actually got it from them.

"I guess I'll just have to wait for ATI to bring out another Vista driver at some point in the future with OpenGL."

Err.. no, you can just boot into Windows XP and use proper drivers there..

When Vista IS released, I'm sure it will have perfectly normal OpenGL support (think of all the mainstream games that use it).
