Interesting ... especially that
<QUOTE>
I challenge computer science grad student Yanif Ahmad ScM ’04 to do better. He finds a way to replace the handgun with a rocket launcher, which I consider unfair. Then again, he has spent the last several years of his life developing this program.
</QUOTE>
...also they call it "the Cube" and speak of trolls being there.
Is this really the same game?

Apparently they mean he's spent the last several years developing a peer networking system in constrast to Cube's existing networking model.

I seriously don't believe this is related to Cube at all :/
If they have worked with it for a long time they would be referring to the 'troll' as an ogro, assuming that during their years of research they actually read the docs.
"but then one of his foes sneaks up behind him and blows him away. He didn’t last much longer than I did."
Since when did Cube have complex AI?

You can´t tag cubes anymore. This is due to the more advanced world structure in Sauerbraten.
If you want to make doors in a sp-map, look at the sp-episode maps and their configs. I believe there´s also a door-example map in /base.

Yeah, tagging was for Cube "heightfield" world geometry.
Call
/sp door_demo
from your game console to see doors in action.
They only work in SP, so don't get confused!

bad idea @ hook iNet to XP
use your much better linux firewall capabilities!
search the forum for several posts already dealing with the matter.

#6195: Weapon compient BOTS |

In terms of non-monster bots are there any plans?
(Not knowing much, to me its seems a fairly simple process of equipping the monsters with different models and then making them use weapons and pickup rules and logic)
This was a question inspired by the amount of CAP* that online play uses(or seems to)
so I was just wondering if there was any possibility of enjoying them game whilst not fighting "monsters" who dont use the games weapons (even though the ogro can be considered such a monster.)

In MOST countries ISPs will impose data limitations depending on how much you pay per month. Mine is 20GB and doesn't include uploads :P but seriously, I have a cousin with the same ISP as me except he only got the 600mb data plan. Sauerbraten barely uses any quota/data. In fact, whenever I go over, I take advantage of his unusually fast internet (hes closer to the exchange :) and host a temporary Sauerbraten server.
if you see all your quota/data going places, check with other members of your household. you most likely have someone downloading music etc.

#6202: Cell Shadding |

As Sauerbraten can now support shaders, I think it would be VERY interesting to include cell shading support.
It would give mappers a whole new way to approach their style.
