Wouldn't you be better to make an autoexec.cfg?

I have only been able to find tutorials on how to host from Windows. I know how to open ports and I opened the ones the tutorials said to, bit I still can\'t get my computer to be a server. I always get the message \"your server was not registered because it did not respond to the ping.\" How do I make it work?

#6128: Future Mod-ability of cubeengine |

Will there be any development going towards makine the cube2 engine a little easier to mod (i.e. Not having to crack open the source code and recompiling just to add new weapons, etc.).
Before the flames of "Learn2Code noob!!!111eleven" rise. I am not asking this out of laziness. I am just thinking that since Cube is so easy to edit in terms of environments, it stands to reason that it could extend that feature to encompass more than just mapping. Allowing the user to easily add weapons, change physics, add monsters (enemies), change camera placement.
I know all the things I have mentioned are not just "two liners" (that means easy to implent from the programming world I'm from), and that it would possibly require some refactoring, but I feel it would alot to the popuarity of the engine and to it's future development.
Just my 2 cents.

not gonna happen
Aard's made it quite clear that Sauer is gonna have his gameplay, his weapons, his way. He makes it easy to edit maps, but at the same time, purposely limits what you can do.

Uhm let me put this a bit diffrent..
Jonhutch, you have to understand that aard and the main developers are primaly interested in making a game(s) themselves with this engine. All they offer to modders is the open code.
Though many would appreciate it being more "moddable" itīs a project done in free time, and itīs goals just donīt include easy moddability ala UT or HL.. simply because thereīs not the time to care about this aspect as well.
Still there might be some people willing to do a fork towards easier modability (for example some guy has made a version of cube featuring lua).
If you canīt do it yourself, chances are someone will do it one day.

sheila's post was the first from this nick or ip, and amazingly off topic for this board. I've censored it as spam. Any comments about it can be directed to me on irc.

#6134: dynamic lights&shadows as seen in cube in sauerbraten |

Hi,
I figured this question must have popped up some time ago, but I couldn't find anything concerning this searching the forums.
Are there dynamic lights&shadows in sauerbraten as seen in the old cube? And if so, how do I activate them? I tried using the 'dynlight B R' command, but the game tells me it doesn't know this command.
thanks for your time.

i think sauerbraten's readme file is copy/pasted from Cube's Doc.
But some things are wrong...

Why does that happen? We're all mature enough to be able to handle whatever people dish out, right? Ah well...

#6142: System requirements? |

What are the system requirements for Cube 2? In Cube, I can get a constant 60 fps at 1024x768, but in Cube 2, I have to lower the screen resolution to 640x40, and even then, I barely get 30 fps! My computer isn\'t top of the line, but I can play Doom 3 fine at the lowest settings, there\'s no reason I should be having trouble with Cube 2.
