#5307: help with compiling sauerbraten

by Maenny on 02/21/2006 21:44

Hi @ All,

I'm quite a newbie concerning c++ programming, but I wanted to try and compile the sauerbraten-engine with dev-c++ . I did not change any of the code, just wanted to compile the untouched source code. I converted the snl/vcproj-files to dsp/dws files and imported them into dev-c++. But when I compile I get this error:

g++.exe: ./Release/cube.map.map: No such file or directory
g++.exe: unrecognized option `-Map'

make.exe: *** [cube.exe] Error 1

Execution terminated

It has something to do with the commandline in the linker, which is:

-lkernel32 -luser32 -lgdi32 -lwinspool -lcomdlg32 -ladvapi32 -lshell32 -lole32 -loleaut32 -luuid -lodbc32 -lodbccp32 -lmsvcrt -lzlib -lopengl32 -lglu32 -lSDLmain -lSDL -lSDL_image -lws2_32 -lSDL_mixer -lfmodvc -lwinmm -Map ".\Release\cube.map".map

Any ideas???

Thx in advance,

maenny

So how DID you do it? I tried minGW, and it worked - BUT when I changed something (like the damage, a rocketlauncher would do), then compiled, then ran the compiled sauerbraten-minGW.exe, the rocketlauncher would be as before.

Do I have to comile some more things before the changes are activated?

i said i dunno.

btw i think i found the cause of the problem with VC Express c++, the link i gave was for platform SDK win xp sp2 and you have to use the generic one. (it says windows server 2003).

#5311: Stats

by Tomtheaint on 02/22/2006 20:21

How would you go about editing the sorce so that you could keep stats on a server. My over all goal would be to add a ranking system. Any one know how I can get started. Im in an adv. C++ class right now so i think that it would be a good project for me to learn a lot. Well let me know.

Thanks,
Tommy

You have to rename the built cubed file to cube ( in the bin directory I just found that out today )

A normal instagib game and look what this guy did: http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/9066/ego200frags6ra.jpg

It is possible, this is an accuracy of roughly 50% wich is pretty insane, but I wouldn´t suspect cheating right away.

At 10 minutes, at a shot frequency of 1.5 sec, 100% accuracy would mean 400 hits.
Seeing that the others got quite a good amount of frags too, it´s possible he even had more shots, since when you get shot and instantly respawn you get to shoot before the 1,5 secs would be up)
So that could have been 40% accuracy. Still pretty über, but possible.

Plus that map is quite small, so there was probably a target in front of him all the time. It depends a lot on the map. In kiste, I usually get 150 in an 1on1..

Hi. I get the same error message with gentoo linux. it seems it appeared first after I upgraded to gcc 3.4.4.

I tried "export MALLOC_CHECK_=1" but now the error is the following:

and don't forget that unlike other instagib games, in cube your aim is not affected by lag, so if you get good at pointing at a player and pressing fire, you should be able to score insanely high.

ask a guy to submit a demo... if he's really that fast it should be entertaining.

is there going to be a fix to that?

#5320: hellpig and skies

by stubbe on 02/27/2006 11:37

Hi all, I'm new to this forum. On to the point, is there any animation sheet for cube monster, hellpig? Or is hellpig using the same sheet just like any other quake2 models? Since hellpig has the most weirdest animation of all the models.

one more question, how the hell you guys created skies? I cant seem to remove the ceilings in cube, how to make the upper part of the default template holed?

thanks in advance

All I know that the hellpig uses weird animations..

About skies in cube: There is no such thing as a hole in the ceiling in cube, you just texture the ceiling with the sky texture.

#5322: RPG maps?

by Tomate on 02/27/2006 15:27

I'm a fan of the cube engine, was working on a singleplayermap in a city but didn't finished it yet. Don't know if it will be finished because of the release of Sauerbraten that really kicks ass.

Then i discover three maps for potential RPG... So here is my question:

Are you willing to make you ( ore someone else ) a RPG with the Sauerbraten engine???

=]

PS: In the last release of Cube, it makes crash my powermac G5 ( osX 10.3.9 ) when the music is trying to make the loop. Damn'!

Yes, a singleplayer Rpg game is planned for sauerbraten as official game project, and is already being worked on.

If you use md2 viewer you can step through the frames of the model and guess what they all mean fairly easily.
