Forgot to say:
The page up and page down buttons seem to be reasonably good replacements for the scroll ball in choosing textures and such.

For cube I only use those keys. Sauer with the wheel though.

I tried that, and all a got was a message saying 'Your server was not registered because it did not respond to ping. Would it be because I use an Internet Gateway to connect to the internet?

Nice off-topic :)

I like Ultima Online most.. almost nothing else in my tiny head. It's simplicity's nightmare, especially since I play on a free shard (uodemise.com). Free shards are not legal, based on emulator software and probably more buggy, and EA can shut them down at any time if they decide to. However, lucky for me, they're not taken seriously since the most populated free shards have about 400 people online (and I came to demise from one with only 30). The thing about this MMO I haven't found anywhere else is, eventually when you build up you got alternative to pvp and stuff. You can trade, they even call it economy. If you find a more efficient way to get stuff, you can get more of it quickly, sell it at lower prices, and get the cash you need to get power scrolls and other relatively expensive stuff (but the most expensive things you usually can not buy for gold, unless a guy is in urgent need). I also play Lineage 2 on a free server, but economy there is far from what you get in Ultima. Both of these games are more popular in Asian countries right now than in the US as far as I know.

I like singleplayer Cube (and games like Morrowind, kinda) cause I can type various stuff in the console and then wait and see what happens.. get things right if I get stuck due to a bug, etc. Cube gave me a lot of freedom to do this little thingy, which seems to be what I like most in non-mmo games right now. I also do a lot of what some people here might call dumb commercial gaming (and it shows I bet:), loved C&C and WC2. I even made a C&C map, and those are rare. You got to be quite stubborn to do it.

Doom got under my skin ever since I saw it, and then again all over when I played with a sound card but the most unique and long-term experience to it for me was mapping. I think it's unique to Doom cause now it's probably hard to find a game where you draw a level in 2D, and gaze at the 3D result when it's done. You spend a lot of time scratching, clicking etc. and the masterpiece comes down on you in one moment :)

Best Games:

1.) Deus Ex (original only)
2.) UT (Original+2K4)
3.) Civilization III
4.) Half life (both, including mods)
5.) Sim City 4
6.) Warzone2100 (You could spend a month researching - and still not get it all)
7.) GTA
8.) C&C (everything but generals)
9.) Mercenaries
10.) Thief II

Worst games:

1.) Rez (I still cant believe I spent 40 bucks on that...)
2.) Deus Ex: Invisible War (Biggest dissapointment of my life...)
3.) Frequency, amplitude, etc.

Coming back to this (almost 2 months later...), what I meant was that if you put a lot of code in headers, you would be inclined to put 'using namespace std;' at the top (or whichever other namespaces you would use). So any files including the header you just wrote 'inherit' whatever namespaces you've used.

This may not be a problem for a reasonably tight app like sauer, but as a general principle it somewhat negates the purpose of namespaces.

yer deus ex was one hell of a ride. invisible was was also one hell of a dissapointment.

1. Equal finish: Deus Ex, HL2, F.E.A.R., Age of Empires III, Unreal Tournament (all of them, but mostly 2k3 and 2k4)
2. Cube/Sauerbraten
3. Quake 4
4. COD2
5. Age of Empires II
6. Far Cry
7. Freelancer
8. The Movies
9. Sid Meiers Pirates
10. Battlefield 2

Shadow,... interesting... I had warzone 2100 on there at #33 or so when I first made the list, but I cut it because I decided I hadn't spent enough time with it. But it is indeed quite an amazing RTS, and not many people seem to know it.

Yup, that is an issue, but a minor one I feel. Usually for a project you either be using STL or not, and when you do, you steer clear of calling your own structures "vector" etc.

Also, I did not advocate making an entire app in this style, depending on the size only app subsystems. Meaning if there was a namespace only used in some part of code that would still be fine.
