by pushplay on 02/05/2006 06:27

A long time ago Goetz pointed out a cool top-down shooter called Crimsonland. I know I'm not the only one who enjoyed it.

Some indy developers are making a Crimsonland meets Doom 3 sort of game and they just released a demo.

The plot is complete crap but it's fun.

#5248: How to install?

by PDearman87 on 02/05/2006 08:45

Hello there, I am using Fedora Core 4 and am trying to run this blasted game with no sucsess... I downloaded the cube_2005_08_29_unix.tar.gz and extracted it to my ./downloads/games/cube folder that I created and when I try to open the cube_unix file I hit run instead of display and it doesn't do anything. Any ideas? Much appreciation.

#5249: connect localhost?

by practicaltarget1234 on 02/05/2006 16:48

what does this do? does it start a server? because after i used it i could see server named localhost in my server browser. and our broadband license or what-so-ever-it-is doesnt allow us to start servers...

Connect localhost just connects to the server on your machine if you already started one.

Your ip probably doesn't care if you run a game server for a few hours. If they do then you need a new ip.

#5251: Linux display problem

by celestial on 02/06/2006 02:04

After months of working perfectly (considerably better than on Windows on the same computer), Cube and Sauerbraten no longer run. I just get a completely blank screen and have to restart X to get everything working again. I don\\\'t know a lot about Linux, but it worked fine before. I was getting almost twice the framerate as I was under Windows. Can anyone help? Thanks!

If you didn't update the games than the libraries were changed.

Sounds like your windows install needs to be cleaned up and given a driver update.

Might be SDL. I installed version 1.2.9, that might be it. I'll try going back to 1.2.8...

#5254: hacks

by Billy Bob on 02/07/2006 20:36

what are the hacks for this game? you are nerdy virgins that will never get laid. you need a life, play counter-strike or halo 2, because this is the suckest game ever. stupid.

I agree. Telling girls I play counterstrike totally gets me laid, every time.

lol aard.
bily bob i dont think you know that your IP is logged when you do stuff on here. what do you need hacks for? the game is fun already and ur just mad cause it actually takes some skill unlike halo2 or counter-strike which is way outdated. your post also suggests that you are about 13-14 years old which means you are prolly a virgin yourself so shut up and leave the talking to the educated people

by chrisolof on 02/08/2006 22:17

Hey- I just got this game fired up on Ubuntu Linux (debian) - sound works, graphics look good, but I cannot interact with the objects in the game. Walls, floors, etc don't seem to stop me- I just go right through. Any ideas?

Oh, really? I thought I read your name on some sweet maps. Maybe I am becoming Schizophrenic buddy! lol
Well I hope you do man, I loved your Cube maps. I would love to map but I never find the time. I will in time. I have not mapped in so long all my knowledge is slowly starting to deplete about it. Well I had a cool Cube map that was almost done I wanted to finnish but theres no reason now, Sauerbraten seems to be the new craze. Well maybe ill try to make a Sauerbraten map, the editor is so awosme on it, and know that there is tutorials I can't help but be curious. Well makke I hope you make some cool future maps, sorry for the mistake. Maybe its just a sign from the gods to release some Sauerbraten maps:)

*snorts laughter*

Hee hee. Earlier today, the fellows in my networking class were joking around with our clustering vocabulary, trying to apply it in the same fashion. Fun times... what's sad is those of us (as in me) who are dating people who are attracted to our nerdiness. I don't think playing Halo2 with my lady friend would achieve quite the same thing as recovering her hard drive for her. But I wouldn't know that, because I'm a "nerdy virgin that will never get laid".

Ohh, that made me laugh. Time to get back to developing my mod for the suckest gameever.

#5263: is anyone using window 2003 server?

by powereyes on 02/09/2006 06:01

I use window 2003 server enterprise version.

With my platform I experience the blue screen when cube is quit.

error is "PFN_LIST_CORRUPT"

and, one off topic. ;)
Because it is my first time of window programming, I had to corrupt from the path. the path of development folder is set like this: "c:\w\cube\" in visual studio.
I hope to make a document for young developer like this :)

#5264: Help with Cube/Sourbraten and OSX

by ZeekNyne on 02/09/2006 13:56

Hey, I am having trouble running both sourbraten and Cube under OSX 10.2.6 and 10.2.8, the application just bounces once or a few times then disappears from the Dock. Can any one offer some advice on how to fix that? E-mail me please if you can.

Thanks again,
ZeekNyne
