#4793: Re: .Aard and other fellow CUBERS- please read this.

by MitaMAN in the cave on 08/20/2005 16:45, refers to #4788

Aard and others on this forum:

jean peirre = fireball, lavaball, 3dman, and a host of other user names. This "person" has a habit of spamming free/open source game forums, and has tried to hack into the login accounts of users on the Retribution engine forums. He is a trouble maker and has tried to create "bad will" between various game engine forums.

If anyone wants to confirm my claim about the "bad will" jean peirre creates go to the Retribution site:

http://www.apgsoftware.co.uk/retrib/index.php?view=news

Post on the forum and ask Andrew Gardner (the founder of Retribution) if what I'm saying is true.

I strongly suggest that jean peirre be banned from this site. I'm sure I'm not the only person on this forum that feels this way.

I was hoping jean pierre would wise up by himself, as I hate banning people. But it seems like he has gone back to his old habit of randomly shouting at people.

I just wanted to say something about jean-pierre/fireball/lavaball/3dman/lavabeam/lava/Angel/yugiyo or whatever name he calls himself this week. I run the RetributionEngine site and this guy has been such a pain in the backside. I think I have the whole of Malta blocked from my site because of the antics of this guy :S I really dont want to block Malta, I have nothing against Maltese people but Im afraid they have one of the biggest fruit cakes I ever had the misfortune to come across living there :/ This guy has used peoples identities (including mine) to flame others, hacked site accounts, tried to use multiple accounts to play different roles in conversations with himself and others, hurled abuse, used insulting and bad language and even made terribly insulting remarks about my family :( I say that you need to either ignore him completely and hope he goes away or ban him. He will never change Im afraid :/

FireBallZ's posts seem to have just disappeared.. and some posts say that they are referring ot themselves.. lol

Examples: posts 4850 + 4851 in this thread:
http://cubeengine.com/forum.php4?action=display_thread&thread_id=1&start=4828

is this an error in the forum or your work, Aard?

by NightWind (a.k.a. mistermath) on 08/23/2005 03:42

OK, as the subject says, this might be a stupid question, but...

Is there any way to add enemy models (just for self-entertainement in SP) to Sauerbraten? And if so, is there a specific file type they must be? (md2, pk3, whatever...)

But there's no way to just add other models, instead of having to replace the preloaded ones?

thnx.
I have put it on godzilla.uib.no. I don't know if I have done something wrong (it show some very optimistic figures at the master server, apart from the xzv94¤% part).
let me know if it doesn't work.

*Sigh* Yes, I know, I'm a total moron, but there isn't much of a manual with Sauerbraten.

Is there a way to change the stats of certain monsters from within a .cfg file? For instance, I'd like to have the Bauul model represent a level boss in the SP maps I'm working on.

And if this can be done, is it automatically reset for the next map, or does it have to be redone in another .cfg file?

Sorry for double posting, but there's no way to edit previous posts.

Is there a way to change the liquid texture in Sauerbraten?

...As soon as I get some answers, I'm going to write a nice, comprehensive user's guide for Sauer. I hope you don't mind, Aard.

by boulou on 08/28/2005 23:39

#4810: Re: Multiplayer playing behind a firewall

by mumbo$jumbo on 08/29/2005 01:06, refers to #4809

The server uses 28765/UDP and 28766/UDP. This last one (28766) to chat with the masterserver.

Normally you shouldn't need to do anything with your firewall to make it work. You don't have to open anything for web-browsing, or do you?

If you are using the new version you can (for instance) do "/connect godzilla.uib.no" and it should work just fine (sorry for the plug).

#4811: different version

I was wanting to check out cube. Installed it and started it, tried multiplayer and it says "different version" on all servers. Whats the deal?

Well, Sauce, it's going to be a complete manual, i.e. something that could be printed out and shipped with Sauer if it were commercial (which it's not, which is very good for me ;-).

BTW, if you want to watch it get written, it's currently on my homepage:
http://nightwind.t35.com/sauerman/manual1.html
Currently, I've only just begun working on the SP section. If anyone notices stuff I've left out, please email me:
electoon2001 AT gmail DOT com
and include "Sauer manual" or something like that in the subject line.
