You don't need to...
Like the man said, you need to *replace* the skin files with your selected one; keeping a copy of the original one, of course :)

#468: Linux Cube bug |

Umm.. cube for linux is fux0red. Undefined SDL symbol: Mix_Linked_Version.
That Mix_Linked bla doesnot exist in SDL 1.2.3 or 1.2.4, so what!?
It also wants libSDL_image and _mixer, but SDL 1.2.4 only gives me one giant
lib, libSDL-1.2.so.0.0.4 with I guess all audio stuff in one thing.
What to do?

The whole packages thing for linux is one big house of cards that is just waiting to fall over, and will do so if you even look at it funny. I wouldn't blame Cube first.
Every OS sucks.

You need to get the SDL image library at http://www.libsdl.org/projects/SDL_image and the mixer at http://www.libsdl.org/projects/SDL_mixer . I had the same problem. After getting the newest versions of all the SDL stuff, it ran perfectly! I love this game.

err what i meant to say in previous post was:
When fooling around with the console and some variables i came across a bug which will disconnect all clients from a server and cause an error (in xp anyways). go to console and
type say %n .. cube will crash.. also try some other letters as some will return the values that they hold.
not sure as to why only %n causes this problem.. also this will happen even when trying to use a variable like
%name.
laters

Cube works fine for me on Linux with the exception of one major thing. All the
text is white-on-white and therefore unreadable. There are just white rectagles where text should be. Does anyone know where this is coming from?
I have all SDL 1.2.4 packages, so I don't think it's SDL related.

It depends upon the mode, afaik there are no server settings what so ever.
ffa/default used to be lobby (a name which made more sense to me) has no time limit. coop has no limit. All of the other mp modes are 10 minutes except 15 minutes for team matches.

as i was checking out the win32 version of cube server i noticed a very suspicious connection printed to the console of the game when i connected in through loopback/localhost.
a connection to an ad server..
http://www.rankyou.com/cpt_transfers/serv/enter_one.php?freeservers
curious about this .. anyone have an idea as to why this is part of the client connection?

anyways turns out it was the hosts file resolution. I have ad server blocking and when i connect through localhost it trys to resolve the connection as a connection to the ad server.
anyways
srry for the spam
