I may be wrong, but i think there's only a binary *server* for FreeBSD, so if you're using a Cube client in FreeBSD you've probably built it from source, and the Cube protocol used in the binary versions is different from the one in the source versions (this is to protect public servers from cheaters).
Maybe there is a way to run the Linux binary client in FreeBSD? (i've only Linux now, but i once installed FreeBSD 4.3 and IIRC there was some option to run Linux binaries)

You have to use linux binary emulation, and make sure you have symlinks pointing to the BSD libraries with the exact same name/case as is required by the cube linux client. Sometimes it's just missing an extra .0 at the end or something...

Hi!
I\'ve just installed cube on my mandrake 10.1 officiel. The game starts fine, and the singel/multiplayer also work fine. But! I can\'t shoot. Or, i can shoot, but it\'s like i am shooting into a wall?:S If i\'m standing rigth in front of an enemy, and shoot directly add him, i can\'t hurt him. My weapon fires a bullet, but as i told before, it is like i\'m shooting into a wall?

#3788: Cube, LInux, Dual Head |

I tried running Cube on dual monitors here and got some interesting results. A window spawned on the left monitor, the left half of the right monitor was black, and the right half of the right monitor had half a game window. It's like the game is trying to be in the centre between the two windows, and is starting on the wrong one. But what I would really want anyways is the game fullscreen one monitor and the other monitor black.
I can make do with a window (though I can't position it without my mouse pointer), but with dual monitors becomming more common this is probably something that should be fixed.

i wonder if you could rig one monitor up with a zoomed in perspective, or perhaps a list of everyone's assumed stats?

Funny... i don't know how OpenGL treats multiple screens... ? using 3 points of view on 3 monitors to have a stunning fov... or 6 large ones for a 360° Cube :)

#3791: use cube 3d in a short film |

Hello,
I\'m an aspiring filmmaker and I\'m looking for a video game to use in a
short film. I like the way Cube 3d looks and noticed that it was open
source. I\'m not exactly sure if I need a release in this case or not
but I wanted to ask if you thought it would be ok for me to use it in
the short.
It might help to know a bit about the short, but I don\'t want to give
too much away. I can say it light hearted and not really violent, just
some friends playing video games. You can look at some of my other
shorts here:

Well I've played Quake 3 at work, using the opengl renderer of course, and it just uses the left monitor.

I think OpenGL can use multiple screen for multiple points of view only if the app is coded specially for this. Off course that doesn't add a lot to an FPS, and especially a fast paced one, there's already enough action in one screen.
Looks like there's no option to specify th default OpenGL screen on the office laptop that have XP pro and a GeForce.
IIRC there's an option for this in XF86Config for the nvidia Linux driver, but i've never tested dualhead with Linux.
I remember once having seen such an option on another laptop, both with Windows and Linux (ATI?).
Maybe Q3 has a special-case coded in to use only one monitor and disable the others?

If you use monitor spanning, SDL will detect only a single large desktop (if both your monitors are at the same resolution) and by default try to use both. I don't know what it would do with monitors with two different resolutions.
