#3711: bind

by nieb on 12/07/2004 18:14

is there a way to bind a key to modify a value on the closest entity?

for example, have the "P" key do +1 to the first value on a...
light 16 200
...to make it...
light 17 200

yes there is: I use these binds:

bind kp7 "entproperty 0 1"
bind kp4 "entproperty 0 -1"
bind kp8 "entproperty 1 1"
bind kp5 "entproperty 1 -1"
bind kp9 "entproperty 2 1"
bind kp6 "entproperty 2 -1"
bind kp_minus "entproperty 3 1"
bind kp_plus "entproperty 3 -1"

I bound the upper walls texture change to something else..

the listen server is easy to set up in windows just put:
bin\cube.exe -l -w1024 -h768 %1 %2 %3 %4 %5

in the server.bat file.

then find out your ip address. Give it to the other person. Run the server.bat file. Then get them to type ~connect yourip when they get into cube.

both catalyst and omega (based on catalyst) 4.12 beta have been out for a day or 2.

I tried the 4.12 beta drivers and they fixed it.

btw do the dodgy pixels on this rifle have something to do with the Z thingy.

#3716: Weird lighting/textures on S3 Savage/IX (Linux)

by mato on 12/08/2004 14:13

Hi,

I'm trying to run the engine on a S3 Savage/IX with 8MB RAM (I know, I know), using XFree86 4.3.0 and the latest DRI. As can be seen in this screenshot: http://www.kotelna.sk/mato/tmp/screenshot_30285.png

the lighting/textures are somewhat "broken".

Any idea what needs to be done to make this work? Is the savage card too "old"?

Other info: running at 640x480, 16bpp.

Thanks

That looks neat, i might go buy a savage card just to get that effect.

you should:

1. not fix it but take lots of screenshots

2. put them on a website... maybe sorted by levelnames or something...

3. tell us the url here and let us participate on this extraordinary visual experience!

Well it probably is too old, maybe itīs a driver issue as well, do you have the most recent drivers?

#3722: Multiplayer Maps

by sYk0 on 12/08/2004 20:49

I was looking at the cube screenshots on the webpage today and some of them look like some really good deathmatch maps.. Can someone please give me a list of the best deathmatch maps and where to get them?

#3723: Texture problems

by NITRO! on 12/08/2004 22:35

My problem is almost the same as the problem with the savage card, but everything is black. I can't see anything but the sky and particles. I got a Radeon 9600XT and the latest official non-beta drivers (4.11). I tried to set the resolution down or set colordepth to 16Bit, I tried to disable AA and AF or to disable dynamic lights... I tried almost everything. Can you help me?

syko: all the maps you can see on the screenshots are included in cube...

makkE: As latest as I can get (20041124) without having to compile all the drivers from source. I think the problem may be related to lighting, Cube complains about not being able to use the 'overbright' model. Is there any way to turn lighting off completely?

Will send a message to the driver developers to see if they can look into it (if it's a driver problem)

I also have a Radeon 9600XT using newest drivers but I have no problem. I run on WinXP and 32bit color depth. Perhaps set your video properties to it's defaults and game resolution to the same as desktop settings. Hope this helps.
