I'm pretty sure I found the weapons on the CUBE forum. I tried to send you the weapons.zip file but my email returned it. I'll send it to you if I can get your correct email address. MitaMAN

#2491: openGL Error with nvidia driver

by Basha on 03/20/2004 22:09

Hi,

when I want to start cube on my linux machine (Deb.3 - Kernel 2.4.22), I get the following message:
Unable to create OpenGL screen (Couldn't load GL function: glBegin
)

Then I thought that my openGl driver isn't really installed, but other games, which are using openGL too, work fine.

Must I configure anything, where cube can find the necessary libs or drivers???Or have I done another mistake ( I changed only the access mod of the cube_unix- script and of the binaries)?

big thx and sorry for my awful English

Basha

#2492: external editor

by macher_ on 03/21/2004 21:31

I don\\\'t know if I\\\'ve posted this in the right thread, but...

Is it possible to make an external cube map editor, in windows standard layout. It could have dropdown menus for textures, mapmodels, skyboxes etc and then when you\\\'ve made the whole map you would be able to export it as a folder including special songs for the map, nonstandard textures, skyboxes, mapmodels etc.

It would make the map editing a lot easier and faster. I\\\'m not good at programming myself (Can not handle more advanced programming languages than GML :)) so that\\\'s why I\\\'m asking.

Actualy, you can't get anything faster than the cube editor if you are emcumbered by windows widgets. ;)

Try out the in game editor, it takes a little while to get used to, but you can go awesomely fast with it. You just need to think in "cubes". (It comes with usage ;)

yes, drakker is right, why have a windows-editor, if in game editing is so nice and fast :)

Bout that error message: I had just the same error when I tried to get cube run under linux...couldn´t solve it

Do a symlink called libSDL_image-1.2.so.0 pointing to your 1.2.3 version, run ldconfig and it should fix the problem.

#2497: Questions about Cube...

by Udder Juice on 03/22/2004 17:36

I just discovered this engine had a few questions for those of you that have been using it. What I’m looking for is an engine that will allow me to create the map (where my real interest lies) but has pre built and scripted enemies, weapons and ammunition that you just place in your map. I don’t know how to script and I don’t have time to learn, nor do I have time to build and animate my own models. I just want to make some cool maps for people to play through. Will Cube work for me, or do you have to create and add your own scripted models?

oyou dpn't have to script anyything in a cube map if you don't want to.
you can place monsters and ammo at will...

#2501: old video card and Cube startup problems

by supercompman on 03/23/2004 05:59

I want to run Cube on my laptop (P3 650Mhz, ATI RAGE MOBILITY M-1 video card, Windows 2k, 128 Meg RAM). The video card is old, only has 8 Meg of RAM, and only supports 3D acceleration in 16-bit color. When I try to run Cube, it begins to start up, the music starts playing, the screen resolution changes and there is just a bunch of junk on the screen. The music keeps playing, but Cube doesn't get any further than that. Can I run Cube on my laptop at all?

change your screen resolution to 640 by 480 16 bit colour then change the cube.bat file from
bin\cube.exe -w800 -h600 %1 %2 %3 %4 %5
to
bin\cube.exe -w640 -h480 %1 %2 %3 %4 %5

then see if it works.

or go to "start" then "settings" then "control panel" then "system" then "performance" then "graphics" and then move the bar to the one next to none then ok then try cube.

that doesn't make sense :(

#2504: Level Updated - Castle Rampage

by _Fanatic on 03/24/2004 04:48

I've taken my latest level as far as I can, so I'm releasing it as-is. I've been too busy with work lately to spend any quality time on anything computer related at home.

http://fanaticalproductions.net/game_map_view.htm?mapId=21

Aard, I know you wanted to include this in the next engine release, so if you or anyone else wants to spice it up and include it, that's perfectly fine by me. It mostly needs monster placement.

Very good architecture. I wish Aard would put some screenies of this as an example of what Cube is capable of.

I wonder if it is possible to turn this thing into a deathmatch map?

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried them and still no luck. :-( Thanks any way.
