#2165: Re: self damage

by D.plomat on 01/09/2004 14:41, refers to #2164

It's a bug in the OpenGL driver of the Linux driver for the radeon in the gluUnproject function.

I also have it on a Gentoo with 2.6.0 kernel and XFree 4.3.99.9 devel snapshot w/patches for the radeon IGP320 :(

#2167: Re: to repeat... (gluUnproject bug)

by D.plomat on 01/10/2004 13:42, refers to #2073

Now that i've found some time to compile a devel snapshot of XFree with the (experimental) patches for the radeon IGP320 (some kind of mobile version of the 7500), i've OpenGL on Linux on my laptop and it gives me the bug.

Unfortunately i don't have this bug with the windows driver so i won't be able to test binaries, but if you want me to compile with modified source files i'll test them on this machine.

Do other users have the "projectiles explodes before the player" bug with other radeon's on Linux or is it just that i'm using an experimental driver?

#2168: gluUnproject bug... VERY VERY WEIRD...

by D.plomat on 01/10/2004 14:08

with the cube binary i have the bug, but if i compile myself the -unmodified- source of 2003_12_23, i have only half of the bug:

The projectiles explodes 3-4 "meters" from me, the rocket explosion doesn't hurt me, but with any weapon i can't shoot at more than 3-4 meters away from me.

Could it be that the bug in the OpenGL driver behaves differently depending on the libs we compile Cube against??

#2169: 3rd person

by US NAVY S.E.A.L. on 01/10/2004 18:12

Could you make it so you are in the 3rd person view while making things, then playing them (in the 3rd person), or is it just first person?

Will there ever be any updates to make use of a third person view, and the ability to bring in your own 3d character models?

If someone knows of a surefire way to reproduce this "double player" bug, preferably on a localserver with just 1 player, let me know

Background colour of what? The void? Look for a line containing glClearColor.

Er, sorry. I had too much coffee while I was typing that. (5 cups today, whee!)
I meant outlines of the menu's colors.

So then you would want to look in blendbox() in renderextras.cpp:51.

by Drakker_ on 01/12/2004 23:00

If it happens to me once, it will happen all the time after that. Main culprits are godzilla and acamar (server that are on 24/7). I'm running the latest cube on kernel 2.4.21, debian testing with a few packages from unstable.

I also tried to repro the double player bug without success on a 100Mbps LAN... maybe this have something to do with the bandwidth, so i'll try with a serial cable @ 56kbps or with a traffic shaper.
