#15545: Using an older OpenGL version |

After installing the newest edition (29-11-2020), I get prompted with "OpenGL 2.0 or greater is required!".
I can run collect edition just fine.
My graphic card is an Intel Graphics Driver Version "8.15.10.2653"
Intel HD Graphics 4000.
Intel Core i7-3610QM 2x 2.30GHz
Nvidia Geforce 610M 2GB 8GB RAM.
I can't update the drivers to 15.33.53.5161, as "the installation isn't supported for this type of processor"...
Is it possible to run in GLSL mode only? Or am I doing something wrong?

Forgot to mention;
I can't start Sauerbraten due this error. There is no crash-log.
I run on Windows 7.

It would seem like you don't actually have OpenGL drivers installed for some reason, and are instead using the Windows software OpenGL emulation that you get when you don't actually have OpenGL drivers.

After trail and error on my Desktop, I noticed Sauerbraten doesn't like the "-q" command anymore (on Windows 7, neither Windows 10).
I've used it for years in the following order;
"-qD:ProgramsCube EngineCustom DataSauerbraten"
This worked since Collect Edition just fine.
However, the 2020-edition has trouble with it.
The default is:
"-q$HOMEMy GamesSauerbraten"
Is there any way to make it work on my own home-directory without making Sauerbraten crash right after start up and telling "Cannot find shader definitions"?

It seems I can't show the backslash on the forum...
So it should be;
"-qD:-BACKSLASH-Programs-BACKSLASH-Cube Engine-BACKSLASH-Custom Data-BACKSLASH-Sauerbraten"
Default should be;
"-q$HOME-BACKSLASH-My Games-BACKSLASH-Sauerbraten"

I am going to guess you have provided your own glsl.cfg or similar in your home directory, and this glsl.cfg is not functional. Try moving that old glsl.cfg out of the way and use the default one.

#15555: Map editing |
by EEDEX
on 05/20/2022 01:24

I created my own custom map, and I've been working on that map for a couple of days now. But today, when I opened Sauerbraten, all my settings were all erased, nothing was configured, so I reset to default all the settings. Then I tried doing /map "My map name" and it said could not read map packagesbaseParcour.ogz
I tried opening all my other maps and they all worked, except for this one. I tried reinstalling Sauerbraten and it didn't work.
Can anyone help me fix this problem?

Hi, when I try to launch the game it gives me a fatal error that says "OpenGL 2.0 is required" and shuts down. I have a GTX 970 so it should support OpenGL 2.0.

#15560: How to change movement speed |

Hi,
I was wondering how can I slow down the movement speed?
Not the overall game speed, but just the movement speed, in order to get a bit slower paced tactical shooter simmilar to half life or counter strike 1.6.

The only thing you can do is change gamespeed with existing vars.

#15562: How to combat auth abuse |
by DebianUser

I was playing in a server tonight and an unnamed auth muted me because I was calling out players for camping outside the normal playing area. They also talked about banning me. When I reconnected and asked them to identify themselves, they muted me again. I don't know how to combat this, but I have always considered the existence of hard-coded gauths to be problematic in this game due to the potential for abuse. If this person was a gauth, it only further strengthens my opinion on it. I want something to be done because an auth should not mute a player just because they don't like what the player is saying. It makes me want to stop playing this game altogether if I have to keep dealing with them (this is not the first time I've dealt with this mysterious unnamed auth). What do I do?

Update: I reconnected later on and we were talking about it after the auth had left. Then they came back and when I confronted them about having an attitude, abusing their power and refusing to identify themselves, I got mutebanned again. Apparently other players have had the same issues with this auth as well. I don't know where else to go with this because this is the only resource I know of for Sauerbraten.

If you can identify the person in question, that would help. When someone gets a global auth, it specifies their account name. Note that server operators can freely hand out local auth or admin accounts to anyone they want, so just because the person muted you doesn't necessarily mean I gave them any sort of global auth.
