#15527: Re: Mouse sens questions |

Answers (by courtesy of Calinou)
1. Is there a way to modyfy the mouse sensitivity while zooming?
Yes, enter "/zoomautosens 0" in the console (to use manual zoom sensitivity) then "/zoomsens N" where N is a floating-point number like 1.0. Higher values are more sensitive.
2. Is there a way to modify zoom fov?
Yes, use "/zoomfov N" where N is the field of view (between 10 and 60).
3. Is there a way to use "hold" zoom instead of the "toggle" (click to enable or disable) that comes from default
Yes, enter the following command in the console (you should be able to copy-paste it):
/bind mouse2 [zoom 1; onrelease [zoom -1]]
To revert to the default toggle behavior, use:
/bind mouse2 togglezoom

#15528: Require OpenGL 2.0 or greater! |

When I try to launch Cube 2: Sauerbraten I keep getting an error message that I don't have OpenGL 2.0. I have latest Nvidia driver updates for 2060 (regular) and have used GLView to confirm that I have support for the latest version of OpenGL. My friends are able to run the game with no problems but I seem to be unable to play.

Hey. I just updated to the 2020 version of Sauerbraten and have been encountering the same error. When looking at the log file, it shows my renderer as GDI Generic (Microsoft Corporation) instead of my actual GPU. I posted this in the bug forum, so hopefully someone has a solution.

I was able to fix the issue. For some reason the Sauerbraten folder in "documents/my games" wasn't deleted when uninstalling the previous version. I deleted the entire folder, and the game launched normally. There must have been a setting in the old files which was causing my error. Hopefully this works for you!

Just testing what happens if I use a different email than what I originally signed up with (cuz 10 years ago I used Dad's email -_-).
Can't believe there's a 2020 update after 7 years!

#15532: PowerPC port of latest Cube2 |
by kas1e
on 01/27/2021 19:25

@All
I tried to port the latest Cube2 to some obscure os called AmigaOS4, which is based on Big-Endian PowerPC 32bit CPU from old times.
Now, while code fully builds and links, and I can run the game and have a menu, once I choose any map and it starts loads, it just stuck on the loading of any map at the moment when loading "Packages/models/mrfixit/hudguns/fist". And nothing else happens. No freeze, no lockup just nothing happens. In the log file is found, all files in place, but just nothing happens.
I assume that it can be some big-endian reading-data issues that just left unnoticed as not so many tests it on big-endian for some time.
Can anybody point me out how to debug it and where to look next?
Thanks!

hello
wanted some nostalgia and came back to these games. however since powerPC apps are no longer supported n intel Macs, I can't play original cube which was the one I was most interested in. any ideas of solutions? i'mm running Catalina. considering sheepshaver but seems rather complicated. any chance of a 2021 update for the game? sauerbraten got the 2020 update, and AC has a 64 bit experimental fix that works fine. just curious. thanks everyone, I love these games

The source code is still available to Cube 1 and can still build if you're handy. But alas, if you are not familiar with how to do that you might be better off trying to make friends with someone who can.

Alternatively you might try to run the Windows version via Wine, which might just work.

Update starts normally, but some along the way server stops and client times out.
It repeats every time. I thought something is borked on my end ( database etc), so I treid it afresh with checkout and it fails the same way.

#15545: Using an older OpenGL version |
by suicizer03

After installing the newest edition (29-11-2020), I get prompted with "OpenGL 2.0 or greater is required!".
I can run collect edition just fine.
My graphic card is an Intel Graphics Driver Version "8.15.10.2653"
Intel HD Graphics 4000.
Intel Core i7-3610QM 2x 2.30GHz
Nvidia Geforce 610M 2GB 8GB RAM.
I can't update the drivers to 15.33.53.5161, as "the installation isn't supported for this type of processor"...
Is it possible to run in GLSL mode only? Or am I doing something wrong?

Forgot to mention;
I can't start Sauerbraten due this error. There is no crash-log.
I run on Windows 7.

It would seem like you don't actually have OpenGL drivers installed for some reason, and are instead using the Windows software OpenGL emulation that you get when you don't actually have OpenGL drivers.
