Hmmm... I justed installed the latest drivers from amd.com like I allways do. I don't know if there is anything I could have done wrong by that.
But just to be clear: the problem does exist for month... so it is not a new problem that came with installing the latest fglrx.
Is there something special on those mentioned maps? Something that could cause trouble for my card? You know what I mean? Like: "animation" enables/disables this or that feature of your card and if you look at this or that map you will see the same problems... and if so you can be sure that fglrx has problems with displaying this and that. Now report on amd.com bugtracker that they should fix that special feature :)

If they really paid attention to people reporting bugs on indie games, the world would be a better place. One more reason why eihrul made plenty of workarounds to bugs and memory leaks the ati drivers produced.
Unfortunately though, i cannot help any further, sorry.

@Razgriz
thanks for trying to help :)
@suicizer01
As my problem just exists in Linux the performance guide doesn't help that much in finding the source of the problem... it may workaround it (what it not even does on infamy) but does not explain why Sauerbraten works good in Windows but not Linux. At least for me with my specific card.
But thanks anyways :)

#13874: Linux - failure to run Cube after install |

Heya,
So I wanted to check out the original Cube in Linux, but after downloading and extracting the tar within my home directory, it just won't start.
I've done chmod +x on the linux_client and the cube_unix script but nothing. It doesn't show up in my process list, either. Running in terminal gives: command not found.
I checked linux_client with ldd and it appeared I was missing libstdc++ 5, so I installed it. No different.
I'm a bit of a Linux n00b. Just recently became acquainted with Linux Mint, which is based on Ubuntu.
Would greatly appreciate any help.

make sure you didn't download from sourceforge, since it doesn't have all the dependency's.

My boilerplate guess whenever someone encounters "command not found": you're attempting to run a 32-bit binary on a 64-bit system.
If that's the case, you'll have to compile it yourself. AFAIK the cube releases don't contain 64-bit binaries.

I like Cube 2, else known as Sauerbraten very much. But when the new version comes, i need to download near 400mb. So, maybe an auto-updater could be very good.

Interloper: Open the cube_unix script and make sure the CUBE_DIR path is set properly. I think by default it's "." (current directory), which works only if you happen to be in that directory and also have "." in PATH.

The SVN is the online repository of the game files. If you do not plan to play the game on the latest additions for some good reason, then DO NOT download it. You will only have problems playing since these newer clients are "incompatible" with the justice ones, because most maps are updated mainly.
And no Sub-Zero, the SVN is not an auto updater. Get your facts straight.

Agreed with RaZgriZ. SVN is not for playing but testing purposes only.

What stops you from only updating when a new release comes out?

Perhaps the fact that there is no point in getting the SVN if you're planning to update only when a new release is marked?

Eh, why? You don't have to download most of the 400mb the OP complained about whenever a new release comes out. Instead, you do it just once, then do `svn up` on new releases.That most probably won't have to download more than, say, 20mb.

That's true. But still, handling the SVN is no task for newbies whose last worries are learning 2 more buttons. Yes, there are many people like that. And then again you'll always end up downloading more stuff than you need.
Oh well, it's anyone's choice. Do what you want, i won't argue.

"What stops you [..]?"

That is the exact reason why Ubuntu users (and whoever use that package manager) have "modified map" errors on shipwreck, and 2-3 other maps. Whoever packaged it, used svn instead of the released tar.gz.

normal cube doc, look and try to understand, think of it like a math book, and you'll catch on.
and here's a video that i made, not the best ever, however it still works for the most part: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5mgW5gMKqeI
