#13770: Putting old maps into new sauerbraten? |

Hey all, I recently downloaded the Justice Edition and I noticed that there are only a few single player maps compared to the older versions. My favorite was Ogro ville (if that is spelled right) and I was wondering can I download that map somewhere and put it in into the directory? If yes can someone explain how?

Get one of the older versions of sauerbraten (like assasin-edition) and search for "ogrosville".
Good luck...

I am trying to make a map with to different spawns, one for each team and i just can\'t figure it out. so i was wondering how can i make a spawn that is team specific so that only the blue team spawns at that spawn or red team only spawns at that spawn.

Ok, I\'ll ask the question on a different way...
Is it possible to set the causticshader and/or the watershader to geometry?

Thanks but i'm kind of a noob to this engine. i know torque script a little bit and i also know some lua but this is weird to me. is there a better explanation as to what variable T is? I think you select the playerstart then press period to pull up the variables, but i don't know which is which.

hi, i am interested on cube programming and i have one question:
i am trying to make a strange kind of rpg, with triggers, new mapmodels and guis, but when adding characters to the map as mapmodels the animations doesn't work and the are freeze, it isn't realistic. So anyone have any idea if it exists a way to spawn monsters in sp with an ai which doesn't attack?
thanks for your time

Look up eistenstern on sourceforge. It's the (dead) RPG project based on the cube engine.

The playerstart is used as a team-spawn for CTF modes ONLY and not for team deathmatch. It's a big limitation. Red Eclipse lets you do 'proper' team spawns, which is one of the reason we swapped to it for MekArcade.

Put the resolution as low as you can (like 320x240), set shaders of, vsync 0, etc...

#13785: Sauerbraten (OpenGL?) overrides color profile settings |

Hi everyone, I'm aware this is probably not the best place to put this question, but i figured someone may have had the very same problem and yould come up with a simple solution:
When I start sauerbraten, I notice that, during the splashscreen, the game overrides my ICC color settings which I defined in Windows.
I suppose this might be an OpenGL or graphics driver (Nvidia GT555) issue and as such not related to sauerbraten, but maybe one of you can give me a hint anyways. Thanks!

It is just setting the gamma level, try using setting the gamma higher, as I assume your intention is to brighten the view.
http://sauerbraten.org/docs/config.html#gamma
eg. /gamma 120
120% of normal gamma levels.

Thanks Quin, but I'm familiar with the ingame gamma settings and I don't want to alter the gamma setting at all here. My screen's colors suck without custom color profiles, so I installed a calibrated ICC profile which makes quite a big difference.
As I understand from your response, sauerbraten applies a gamma curve different from system settings. This is done during the splashscreen. When I put "/gamma 150", quit sauer and restart, I notice the splashscreen changing from gamma 100 to 150 after a few 1/10s. And at this point exactly my ICC profile settings are switched off and the screen is covered with an ugly blueish color shift until I quit sauer again.

I am thinking that saurbraten sets the gamma globally but the colour profile sets the gamma per channel? That said I tried setting the colour channels to different channels using nvidia settings and then ran sauer and the gamma didn't change back - and doing gamma 100 did nothing and gamma 120 just increased the overall brightness. The colours where still off (as I had set them to be). Though this is a GTX 280 with the latest Beta driver and is running on Linux so you mileage may vary.

Sauerbraten uses SDL and it's gamma methods, and this gamma affects the entire display (which is annoying when you run in a window).
You should find that if you set gamma to 100 then it doesn't affect your colour profile. Though then you might have to resort to twisting the brightness knob on your monitor to up the brightness level (if you need to).
