Im having lots of fun with the map editor. I dont think I can speedmap yet... YET, but Im working on getting the basics down, like making water and other cool effects: (I like water, you might see it alot in any works I do). I hope that "no room over room, YET" statement mentioned in one of the doc's is true; room over room would rock!

One of the first things you have to do as a mapper for this game is get used to the idea of not being able to do room over room. But once you do get used to it, you'll find that you don't miss room over room much.

Feel free to enter into the speedmap, no one's going to mind if your map isn't the best.

Well, I can tell you... I want to figure out how to tilt cubes and make nifty angles, because my new map... well, its going to be special! Lets say the common idea is teamwork, and kinda like capture the flag, but no flag.

there is a -g command line option (originally implemented for the german market) which stops rendering gore (i.e. the chunks of flesh lying around) but does not disable the blood (as that wasn't required).

Why does all german ppl assume that the rest of the world speaks flawless german?

Like, 90% of the clan sites are in german.. how come? Don\'t they teach English in germany? A site in another language than English reaches a remarkably smaller amount of people than an English page would. So pleeeeeease all clans, mappers, tool makers and everything, start doing your pages in English! I rather take a page in English with loads of grammatical and/or spelling errors than a page filled with a language that I haven\'t studied in ages.

Start using the \"official internet language\", English!

You are most inappropriately named insight, lack of sight would be more appropriate. The reason so many clan sites etc are in german is a lot of clans are german. The reason you see so many english websites is thats what your intrested in (do you ever search for spiele or whatever, no you search for games)

How can I play over LAN?
I've started the Cube-Server and then the game itself. In the menu there was the option "localhost" which connected me to the server running on my PC.

But how can other peoples in the LAN join the game?
Is it possible to tell the game an IP which it should connect to???

For a lan game you should use the IP addresses used within the network to find the server.

Say you run the server, then go into the start menu, click run, and type winipcfg. Then click on "more info" in the bottom right. Select your ethernet card from the drop-down menu and your IP address will be listed under "IP Address." If you want people to connect to your machine on the LAN they type in game: "/connect 192.168.0.4" or whatever your IP address was.

I think some windows versions might use names for the program different than winipcfg.

Hey, Insight, I think you can be an okay person, and I think anyone outright attacking him for moreso an oppinion should really back off. Now, I know, most people have an opinion, and opinions are like @$$holes, everyones got them and most stink, badly. Im not supporting racism, but as someone who might not be as open-ended as others, english may seem to be the dominant language on the internet. On the other hand, though, why would an english gamer search up a german site? Sure, I study spanish (I read better than I write, so I wont just put something down.) so I will often find myself looking through a spanish site and still finding what I need. I just think that this was all a big misunderstanding, I can find truth in bolth of your positions, but I think that its kind of a null point. The german clans should have german websites: Theyre german, thats there language. If you want an english clan, make one or find one... I dont think it would be that hard.

Insight, to put in kinder words, what they said, "Please be more kind to your internet peers, the internet is an international place, with international people. You cant expect everyone to fall under one catagory."

I\'m trying to run cube on Mandrake 9.0. When I execute the cube_unix script, i receive the following error: \"error while loading shared libraries: libSDL-1.2.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory\". Does anyone know how to resolve this problem. Thanks in advance.
