Android and Windows 10 UWP port

by Catalin Stan on 04/20/2016 09:19, 21 messages, last message: 09/04/2016 00:54, 9505 views, last view: 04/24/2024 10:29

Hi,

I successfully managed to port the engine to Android and Windows 10 using OpenGL ES.

If this sounds interesting, I will publish the source modifications (quite ugly using a few macros).

What engine ? The Cube Engine, the Cube 2 Engine or Tesseract ?

And with what game(s) did you try it ?

The Cube 2 Sauerbraten engine (the code in src/)

First I tried Tesseract, but shader restange support is not available on ES

I did not have a better idea. I just wanted to make it public. Do you have a better idea?

To store source code, use Github is less and less seen as a good idea

According to what I understood, you have your own website.

Why not put your code on this site ?

Hi there.

From 4.2 to the latest. More work will need to be made on UI controls and movement.

For this reason I added:
VARP(freecursor, 0, 1, 1); VARP(freeeditcursor, 0, 1, 1);

This means that the camera rotates only when you drag the finger on the screen.

I would say it is not yet usable, but it just renders the map.

Robert Pointon "baby-rabbit" One of the Cube 2 Programmers made this Cube one port for ipod

Don't know if it be any help for the UI controls! I only played it once and liked how the controls worked!

Don't worry if there are just a few of us speaking about this project! There's been little activity to keep this communities blood flowing! Thanks for keeping the project alive and giving back to the developers! :")

liked the controls to ios port of cube 0.0 wft they where clunky asf (no offense). But im glad to see that people are trying to help get cube multiplatform.

Any chance of a Google Cardboard VR version? A fast & lightweight engine like Cube2 could work really well for Android VR projects :)

Since am I am no 3D modeler and I am not allowed to publish sauerbraten to play store / app store / windows store, I will focus more on other projects, but I am glad to answer to questions.

I just think this is pretty cool saying that cube is hardly multiplatorm (well at least mobile platforms).
