maps and clutter

i was just wondering if the heap of <a href="http://i.imgur.com/kj4WJuF.jpg">map glitches</a> will ever be fixed for the new edition, and would it be time to retire maps like <a href="http://imgur.com/a/9vgtB/all">these?</a> they'd never be acceptable if they were submitted somewhere like quadro in 2015, they have 0 gameplay value, and minimal aesthetic value. also check out this guys mapping page, he's got some goodstuff http://fatalitysauerblog.blogspot.ca/p/maps.html



long story short, you could seriously increase the value of sauer without even adding much content by getting rid of excess crap, and revamping salvageable old stuff

That post is just a personal opinion as some maps certainly do have a value of gameplay and a flow which meets the standards nowadays.
Not every map within Sauerbraten has to be playable for tournaments, duels or similar events.

I think some maps do not actually deserve their spot in that list.
Guacamole for example. Why is everyone hating on that map? It deliberately not follows this whole hyper realistic bullcrap that some maps try to go for (and fail). It is supposed to look weird and comicy.
The only thing that might be annoying about is that one spot where he forgot to put a wall, so you can offmap and back in, so you are inside a wall.

Does that mean that we should put in every map that could be played by someone once?

If you're unwilling to reevaluate and revamp, you won't improve.

Papriko, the problem with guacamole is that it isn't good for playing. I also think it's ugly.

Killfactory, pgdm, ruby, phosgene are fine maps for allvsall. Some have been used multiple times on such matches even in events like tournaments.
There's actually nothing wrong with oasis, shadow and powerplant. It just has a different play and perhaps looks than most maps nowadays. That makes them unique.

Island could be a pretty good map for capture or hold in my opinion if the bases are placed tactical and meant for a small amount of players.

Hog2 could be fixed perhaps. That's not a reason to actually take it out of Sauerbraten (else forge could have been deleted also as it once suffered a major wallglitch).

Some of these maps are really not up to standard with other maps. And some things on quad really are better, replacing some of the poor gameplay maps wit new ones would help. And if getmap was allowed in other modes this wouldn't matter cuz if some one whats to have a server that plays a particular map then they can :0
