Sauerbraten competitive play:FaceIt and more

by ILoveGurochan on 02/25/2014 23:30, 13 messages, last message: 05/16/2014 06:32, 3866 views, last view: 04/20/2024 01:22

Hi guys,

I started using FaceIt some days ago and i find this site really nice.
If somebody doesn't know,FaceIt is a site that allows everyone to join tournaments of various games(League of Legends,Quake live etc...) and win money or FaceIt points, that will bring you some nice things like gaming gear.
Now,what if we start building a professional community for Sauerbraten? That's actually one of the most competitive games of the world with various modes that are perfect for tournaments even because SB's server system is fast and reliable.

Now,maybe FaceIt admins have no interest to implement a non-mainstream game, but we can still try to ask them massively to add this game to their roaster, but i think the simpliest think we can do is to start organizing tournaments constantly, even for fun without prizes.

After four months you have to pay money or you don't get to compete at all... SPAM

You can do 4 tournaments on a month, not unlimited for 4 months.

Anyway faceit was just an example, there are many sites that promotes competitive gaming like ESL(who had sauerbraten in his roaster 3 years ago).

There once was an ESL league on Sauerbraten, but that's quite a while ago.

Sure that sauer is a good idea for professional competitive gameplay? It's open source afterall and hence quite easy to, uh, "modify".
I mean, basically any game can be "modified", but with sauer it is especially easy when you have some C++ knowledge.

"The section titles used in these Terms are purely for convenience and carry with them no legal or contractual effect."
http://play.faceit.com/terms-conditions/

http://www.scamadviser.com/check-website/play.faceit.com

Two year old website at a london data center to avoid suspicion!

Website owner throws a small bone at winners so they bite harder to get better prizes!

Show confident trusting players a big prize! Stiff them all, keep the dough and the prize! Start up a new website repeat process complaint-free!

Courts in london play hard to get about the owner based in netherlands! No worry just take your none-contractual complaint to a court in netherlands! Court finds no legal term supporting your complaint! Case dismissed!

No thanks I'm saving My money for groceries, risk-free!

I was only stating you should be careful with sites that have sketchy ip info! Use only long time trusted well known services! Also always read the terms and conditions for anomalies you think would harm you in your country, on local court of law! Scammers can avoid independent international extradition laws! Make sure you know what those laws are!

A lot of times it's a service that's looking to appear in your best interest when in fact they are taking advantage of your trust to get the most money out of you! Scammers don't care about sloppy terms & conditions if they know they can get away with it!

Safer to be paranoid than to lose your money I belive!

1. FaceIt is a legit platform for competitive gaming. They've been running quakelive and cs:go tournaments for quite a while now and nobody has ever had any reason to complain.
(check http://www.esreality.com/ for coverage of faceit ql events)

2. ILoveGurochan: If you're looking for an approach towards competitive gaming in sauer, check out dos.sauerworld.org (in the making).
sauercom.blogspot.de and #sauercom on irc.gamesurge.net will also keep you up-to-date on the latest developments concerning the sdos league!

I saw Day of Sobriety but they don't organize tournaments enough times, they just make some instagib duel without any constance.I think that all little leagues and tournament organizers should take themselves together and make a big and well made league system.
