November release plans...

by eihrul on 10/30/2012 09:57, 134 messages, last message: 01/05/2013 09:49, 104505 views, last view: 04/18/2024 23:53

So, I'd like to get the party started so we can have a new release out the door by the end of November.

To that end:

Mappers - <emphasis!!!>FINISH YOUR MAPS AND PUT THEM ON QUADROPOLIS A.S.A.P. SO YOU CAN GET FEEDBACK AND FIX PROBLEMS.</emphasis!!!> I don't want to include broken or unfinished maps in the release. So if you have dreams of getting a map in the release, hurry it up.

Brave players - test the SVN stuff (requires compilation). Make sure nothing is horribly broken so that people don't have to experience horrible breakiness have the release.

Well, because a bunch of mappers and developers have been lazy, it is looking like a December release now, hopefully before the end of the world...

#112: Site nabers!

by Zamwa on 12/03/2012 23:53

To Eihrul:
That's quite alright nearly half the projects on source SourceForge don't even make baby steps within five years! Just so you know I'm happy to wait until you think it's ready!

To everyone: I was on the severs last night and heard a rumor about a hijacked web domain! So I checked the site out and found something strange has happened with www.quadropolis.us someone made a satire website using everyone's name and password stolen and mirrored to this site http://nyanit.com/www.quadropolis.us what can I do to help!? :"(

If you wouldn't be a lazy to implement online adding of maps, then you should not wait for mappers who works all the Sauerbraten active time and now you call them lazy just because you decided to release game just right now and now you are very suprised that all semi-finished are not finished? Is it joke? If you would more listen the people what they want the improve, then you could hear that they don't want better grass or glass efects, but they want things which improve things more about the gameplay. But you don't want to listen the people, then you should not expect that people won't listen you. Anyway thanks that someone is still working on the game, it is still better than game would become dead.

Your humor module appears to be malfunctioning today.

We're getting there. There are still things that need to be taken care of. Be patient.

Meanwhile, if people want to help out, you can download the SVN stuff and test it. Just make sure there are no bugs/regressions from the previous release. More testing now means less post-release shittiness later.

svn page is here http://sourceforge.net/p/sauerbraten/code/4415/tree/ there is an svn checkout command there,

svn checkout svn://svn.code.sf.net/p/sauerbraten/code/ sauerbraten-code

You can see changes in the new version by looking at docs/history.html in svn, and looking at the topmost entry.

svn version works great for me. But there are never people in svn-compatible servers so I have never tested multiplayer. Maybe we can coordinate a test day or something like that?

#126: SVN and XCode on OSX

by mayhem on 12/22/2012 04:49

I have a MacBook Pro from 2009 running OSX 10.6.8.
My Video card is an ATI Radeon X1600 and my mouse is a standard logitech G3 gaming mouse.

If I wish to compile from SVN, I must first replace the SDL, SDL_image, and SDL_mixer frameworks included in the XCode directory with the more up to date frameworks that are already on my system.

Also, when running in windowed mode, the menu mouse displays some strange behaviour. With V-sync off, it will slowly increase sensitivity over a span of about 8 seconds before suddenly dropping and slowly increasing again. With V-sync on, it is just erratic. This problem is non-existent in full-screen mode.

Everything else seems to work just fine.

P.S. The new menu layout is very nice

You may specify include directories to compiler without any need to replace something.
