Okay, we've officially decided that the best way to implement security in Sauerbraten is using a credit card authentication system. For the low-low introductory price of $39.95 (after which it is $29.95 monthly), you will receive a subscription to the Sauerbraten master server, a gold-plated ogro figurine, and a 1,300 page hard cover manual with magnifying glass (OED style).

On game start, you will be asked to verify your CC# so that it matches our records, after which the master server will give you a temporary token to connect to other servers with. Every 5 minutes thereafter you will be asked to turn to a selected page, paragraph, word, and letter in the manual, and use the included magnifying glass to identify the secret code lettered in extremely small print at the specified position to continue playing.

Also, due to US The Child Protection Act, no one of the age of 13 or under shall be allowed to set up an account, even with parental consent, as we must protect children.

Please don't do this. Or, if it has already been decided, please implement free ad-powered security. It could be built-in, or as a separate ad-bar application, showing ads on the part where paying customers utilize the manual. The player must follow a link and register on an advertizer's site, where they will find an 8-digit number needed to continue playing.

Also I need to share with you, I feel a little embarassed by the children ptotection act. I watched lots of horror movies as a kid, and played games such as Doom, Quake and Cube. Please don't give this information to anyone and password-protect this topic. Make efforts to protect other users' identities and privacy as well, in order to improve the community and encourage the free sharing of information on the boards.

Just get a Gmail address, it blocks all the spam you get anyway (I get over 200 spam messages a day, not one of them lands in my inbox).

WTF??? This is the most STUPID idea ever!!! Pay for Sauerbraten to use it??? Yeah right! Not on this world man! If its because of hackers and cheaters, forget it. They are only stupid monkey-ass people that pretend that they know everything and they are the best... well, just kick'em, ban'em and throw them to a dark and endless hole! Cause if this was true, no one would pay for this! Sauer is good for free, and definetely horrible by paying. The number of players would go all the way down to 0!!!

P.S: This topic is OBVIOUSLY a joke! A VERY STUPID one, but it is a joke. We would all try to get pirated versions of it or just wouldn't play it if this happened, though.
